In accordance with fire prevention regulations, the shed housing the new Edilfoor S.p.A production facility had to be equipped with a water supply to serve the building sprinkler system. A key problem to be overcome was that of where to position the cistern, as the installation works would have blocked the access route for heavy vehicles entering and leaving the site; accordingly, the situation called for a solution that would reduce completion times to the bare minimum. Having looked at the various options with the designer, the Geosintex engineering department suggested using ECOBLOC Inspect Flex, a module that is both light and quick to install, but given the appropriate cover, will withstand vehicular loading of up to 60 t. Adopting the Ecobloc solution, the cistern was assembled and installed in around 10 days (waterproofing and backfill included), which is 1/3 of the time that would have been required for a cast-in-situ concrete structure.
