Dewatering of sludge in a sewage purification plant

Corporeno (FE), Italy
Products:2 x SINTEXTUBE D filter, length 15 m, height 2.2 m
Project details

The sludge treatment line of the purification plant at Corporeno, near Ferrara, consisted of 2 old centrifuges and 2 drying beds that had fallen into disuse. The system was, on its own, no longer able to dewater the entire quantity of sludge produced by the plant; this created various management problems, associated with increased costs. To provide the plant with a simple but effective technology and guarantee the stand-alone capability of the infrastructure, so that the entire output of sludge from the plant could be dewatered, two SINTEXTUBE D filters were installed in the existing drying beds. Geosintex provided a support service that began with inspections on site, when a test was also conducted on the sludge that required dewatering, and proceeded with a sizing specification for the textile structures and advice on the modifications that needed to be made to the existing system. With the SINTEXTUBE D filters installed, the centrifuges could be phased out completely, and a notable reduction in running costs was already observed after the early stages of use.
