Dewatering of sediments dredged from the man-made reservoir of Valdaora

Monguelfo (BZ), Italy
Products:6 x SINTEXTUBE D filter, length 30 m: 4 at the base, height 1.7 m; 2 stacked, height 1,9 m
Project details

To ensure continuing reliability of the emergency discharge facility on the reservoir dam at Valdaora, near Bolzano, the operators arranged for the basin floor near the discharge works to be dredged. Some 2,500 m3 of accumulated material needed to be removed and suitably disposed of. It was decided that SINTEXTUBE D filters would be used to dewater the dredged deposits directly on site, following which the filled textile containers would remain in situ and be used as packing elements for reshaping the left bank of the reservoir, near to the dam. For reasons of space, and adaptation to the geometry of the slope, the SINTEXTUBE D filters were arranged on two levels, creating a stacked configuration that was studied by the Geosintex engineering department applying numerical analyses, so as to ensure the stability of the structure.
