The reinforcement geocomposite
This is a geocomposite consisting of a non-woven propylene geotextile reinforced with a geogrid made of glass fibre, particularly suitable for use in improving road surfaces.
GLASSCOMP® acts as a stress-relieving element within the structure of a bituminous road surface, interacting with the asphalt layers in such a way as to prevent the formation and spread of crazing and cracking.
For best results when installing, the asphalt needs to be at a temperature of around 170 °C, so as to reach the melting point of the non-woven PP sheet and ensure that the geocomposite binds with the old bituminous surface.
GLASSCOMP® responds to EN 15381 standard, providing the functions designated R+STR+B (Reinforcement+Stress-relief+Barrier).
Impregnation and placement of wearing course on GLASSCOMP®
GLASSCOMP® can be used for roads, motorways, docks, airports, and areas where industrial traffic is concentrated. It provides an effective solution for improvement projects where the aim is to extend the useful life of infrastructure, increase its utilization capacity and reduce differences in loading.
