FILTER UNIT®

The gabion, for protection against erosion

A flexible gabion, consisting of polyester netting, which is filled with loose rock or stone (minimum fragment size 50 mm) and used for the protection of banks or structures along waterways, also for reinstatement works following subsidence caused by landslides or flooding, or as ballast for underwater pipelines or cables.
FILTER UNITs can perform the functions of support, consolidation, protection and reinforcement at one and the same time.
The product is made of UV-stabilized material, guaranteed durable for a period of up to 30 years if exposed directly to sunlight, and up to 50 years if submerged, even in salt water — a feature that ensures this synthetic solution will be much longer lasting than traditional wire gabions.
FILTER UNITs are available in 3 models of 2, 4 or 8 tonnes capacity, equipped with a single lifting hook designed to ensure extreme ease of handling and placement, whether for installations on land or in offshore locations.
Applications cover all kinds of infrastructural engineering projects, especially hydraulic and marine works such as the protection of river banks, canals and the bases of bridge piers, preventing erosion on beaches, repairs necessitated by emergencies, and ballasting of underwater pipelines.

Why choose FILTER UNIT®

This is a product affording strength and notable durability, even when exposed to sunlight and salt water, and consequently has a competitive advantage over traditional wire gabion structures.
Given its flexible nature, the netting is readily adaptable to the contours of the terrain, avoiding the need for preparatory earthmoving works and the associated costs.
Handling operations are rendered swift and simple by the use of a single lifting hook and the filled units can be stacked one on top of another.
