Underwater structures such as pipelines or cables needed to be anchored and ballasted to keep them firmly on the seabed and avoid any possibility that they might float, as this could result potentially in damage or operational problems. Systems such as FILTER UNITS — flexible gabions made of polymer and filled with stones — are perfectly suited to this type of application, being easy to organize and deploy (including off-shore).
In applications where handling is less of a problem, however, or where extra weight is needed, there is also the option of using SINTEXMATTRESS textile moulds, filled typically with cement mixes.
