Downpours of short duration and significant intensity can easily create problems in urban areas where the capacity of the drains is not sufficient to handle the volume of water. This is especially the case where development has taken place quickly and without proper organization; consequently, when violent storms occur, roads and buildings at the lower end of the watershed are readily susceptible to flooding, which causes damage to goods and property.
Modular ECOBLOC and INFILTRATION TUNNEL products can provide an effective remedy in the creation of temporary collection basins for rainwater, which will be released subsequently by infiltration into the soil, or retention in the sewers, once the peak flow has been drained via the collectors.
