Road works

A fundamental aspect that must be given consideration in the design of road infrastructures is the drainage of rainwater. During heavy storms, if suitable measures are not put in place, the road surface can easily become flooded and present a risk to the safety of users. In addition to providing a suitable system for capture and retention, there is also the need to identify a final location where the surplus flow can be directed, albeit without jeopardizing the hydraulic safety and stability of the surrounding land.

Modular ECOBLOC or INFILTRATION TUNNEL elements can provide an effective solution for incorporating rainwater collection and dispersal basins into roundabouts, or into reservations adjacent to road junctions, or laying drainage ditches alongside carriageways. These simple structures enable in-situ management of rainwater flows, and are ideal where there may be no receiving bodies of water or drains and sewers, or in urban settings, where existing collectors risk being overloaded during the course of intense and prolonged rain storms.
